Here we go again! One of our signature events, the Firestone Grand Prix Of St. Petersburg returns this weekend, March 11th through March 13th. Once again, Indy cars will be roaring through the streets of downtown St. Petersburg at speeds exceeding 100 mph. This is the kickoff of the 2016 Indy car season, so it is a huge event for race fans. This is also a huge event for our little city, and attracts tourists from all over Florida and race fans across the country. St. Petersburg will be showcased to an international audience, with dramatic aerial views of our great city and white beaches sent out across the world, which is the one of a kind exposure that brings future tourism and investment. The racing kicks off Friday morning at 7:30 AM, and the official website with a complete schedule of events can be found HERE.
As you know, they are racing on the streets, so many streets downtown are closed, detoured, or rerouted, and traffic will be unusually heavy, especially during racing hours. Last year a record 160,000 people attended last year, and this year looks to be larger. Parking will be expensive, and very hard to find. And should you decided to go with some amateur rideshare company, be prepared to pay through the nose with outrageous surge pricing. Save yourself the trouble and call Downtown Yellow Taxi to be your driver to and from the event. Since we are based in downtown, no one gives faster service to the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Save our number in your phone! 727 379-4440.
