It’s something of a slow weekend coming up, but one thing that caught our eye was the new pier design sketches released this week. If you have been following the back and forth on this, there isn’t a design that seems to please everybody, but the pier is/was an iconic structure for St. Petersburg. The old St. Pete Pier was structurally deficient and had to go, but getting a replacement built has been controversial. The Lens design went up in flames, but it looks like the new plans are moving forward with a design that includes a lot of green space, a fishing dock, kayak launch, an education center, and a splash pad for the kids, so hopefully the St. Pete Pier will again be an icon of our great city. Here are some more renderings from Rogers Partners Architects+Urban designers and ASD.
Even though it is a slow weekend, that doesn’t mean the party will stop downtown. If you are heading out to the bars and restaurants, let Downtown Yellow Taxi be your ride. Let our professional drivers get to downtown and home again safely. Call us at 727 379-4440, and save our number in your phone.
